Darlene Mason is known as a wounded healer who has had the opportunity to work with individuals, groups, and families to make meaning to one’s life story. Through the counseling field and from personal experience Darlene is exposed to the issues that affect those in the foster care system. Darlene Mason born in Tampa, Florida moved to Maryland February 2007. Darlene, successfully graduated from Bowie State University with Bachelors degree and University of New England with a Master’s of Social Work. Additionally, she is currently enrolled to obtain A master's Degree in Management with a concentration in Public Administration. Her professional volunteer experience spans working with inner city teens, youth, and the geriatric populations providing individual counseling, group counseling, case-management services, discharge planning, individual treatment plans and referrals for outpatient services. Additionally, she has served as group facilitators and crisis counselor throughout her community. She also volunteers to work with women who have been sexually abused/raped and finding life after divorce. Her lifelong ambition is to provide counseling services to those individuals in need while advocating for disadvantaged individuals, and connecting those experiencing opposition to resources and services that they can improve the quality of life.
